Fine-art photographer Jean-Michel Berts has produced a series of books on cities of the world, each one featuring works produced in his signature style: poignant, powerful, black and white images of urban architecture.
Walking the streets of Jerusalem, he recalls helpful and friendly people and a free and peaceful ambience. This sense of calm is reflected in the atmospheric and timeless 'Tombeau de David'.
In a city where the sun shines so brightly, for so long, and people amass in the streets, Berts took the Mount Zion photograph at sunrise - to achieve stillness, contrast and shadows.
Assouline, his luxury publisher, has just arrived in Piccadilly.
