The early work of fashion photography’s Dutch über-couple Inez and Vinoodh (collaborators and partners Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin) was known for its interplay of elegance with horror, and their work still occasionally combines the beautiful with the bizarre. Regular contributors to haute couture editorials in the luxury fashion magazines, they are also known for their advertising campaigns, portrait photography, music videos and fine art photography.
Inez and Vinoodh have been working with Icelandic musician Björk since 1999, collaborating with her on nearly every one of her fantastic and dramatic album covers, including Vulnicura, her 2016 Brit-winning album. The image of Björk wearing the Comme des Garçons cape was taken during the shoot for the spring edition of T: the New York Times Style Magazine; van Lamsweerde has described the utter joy expressed by Björk on first spying and then wearing the magnificent outfit.
