Influences of surrealism, graffiti, and comics converge in Damilola Odusote’s illustrations. This young artist, with a side-career teaching hip-hop at Pineapple Dance Studios, incorporates spray paint, dried roses, black sand, and string into his witty and perceptive drawings of animals, maps, and fantastic imaginings. A collaboration with Modla, 3D-design consultants, brought to life his surreal explosion of a Nike Air Force 1 trainer. His work is popular and accessible: 31 of his small, original pieces – at around £200 each - sold at his last art fair and his work sells as soon as it’s posted online.
